One of the finest parts of being a music blogger is that you get to hear new music from your favourite new bands slightly ahead of the game and that is something that always has and always will get me excited. Take the excellent Bristolians Erotic Secrets of Pompeii, for example, and their forthcoming new single 'Speak Medieval'. Typically furious and erratic guitars somehow find a groove with the drums and the performative vocals give this a sense of theatrical punk fuelled by chaotic energy and furious linguistic agility. Like Countdown with Iggy Pop presenting, Mark E Smith in Dictionary Corner and Devo hovering around the letter board with a sense of mischief.
