This is the second solo single from former Salvation Jayne frontwoman Chess Smith and ‘Drama King’ shows a real maturity of sound and songwriting. “I am done with Pinocchios” is a killer opening line and the song then evolves into the kind of ‘I’m down but not out’ anthem that we all need in our lives from time to time. Soulful but powerful vocals combine with poppy melodies and a punchy beat to create a sound the sits somewhere between Ellie Goulding and Lady Gaga with the addition of some violins elevating the arrangement into something truly ear-catching.
