I'm always a little skeptical of anything with the word 'viral' attached to it but as this is the debut release from Mollie Elizabeth I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. 'Vegas Venetian' finds the Washington State artist in incredibly poised and mature form with string stabs and plucks creating a bare frame for her lush vocals to drape luxuriously over. A mixing pot of early Madonna sass, young Marilyn Monroe glamour, Lana Del Ray's dusky, louche style and the edginess of a David Lynch (RIP) soundtrack makes this the kind of song you can't ignore and, honestly, why would you even want to try?
