The resurgence of Irish music continues with heavy rocking quartet His Father’s Voice and their superb new single, ‘The Blues’. A churning, Placebo-esque guitar gets things going before the howling and wailing vocal of Ash O’Connor crosses the line between the ethereal and the real. While the band builds up the energy behind that guitar melody I’m reminded of the criminally underrated 12 Rounds and the superb video matches the energy with some frantic but expressive dancing in a tiny room enhancing the sensation of frustration bubbling to eruption. Powerful and evocative stuff that I would like to hear more of if it isn’t too much trouble.
