Cornelius - Mind Train

I don't often say this but this latest release from Japanese artist Cornelius is one that you really need to listen to along with the minimalist but hugely effective video. 'Mind Train' throbs with a steady electro-pulse joined by the bending of a single string and a gentle clattering beat (if one can clatter gently). As the sounds layer up and build, a la Lemon Jelly or Penguin Cafe, you get the feeling of motion, unstoppable and unrelenting motion, taking you on a trip in every sense of the word. Genius instrumental brilliance and that's a rarity these days.
