Just when I thought I couldn't love X Ambassadors anymore, they go and release a song as an ode to a recently lost friend, mentor and supporter - Todd Peterson. 'Your Town' will resonate with anyone who has ever left their hometown and gone back to visit with a mixture of nostalgia, grief and relief. The acoustic chug is world weary and in search of comfort while lyrics like "don't forget about your town, don't forget where you came from" are delivered through clenched teeth holding back tears of anger and loss. This is a musical reminder to call that old friend you haven't spoken to for a while or to acknowledge those that help you on the way up and out before they kick you on the way back down. Oh, and if that doesn't get the tears flowing then hang on until the end of the video for the last voicemail that singer Sam received from his friend Todd before he passed away in 2021. RIP Todd Peterson.
