MEGA - EP REVIEW

Mega - Honour & Glory EP

Release Date: Out Now

Mega has certainly been one of my favourite finds of 2023 but that's been based primarily on a string of single releases so I'm keen to see how her new EP stacks up. 'Honour & Glory' opens with 'Let You Down' which is an arm around the shoulder and a big hug of a track as Mega's soulful vocal soothes your mind so that you can let in the healing powers of the music. 'Learning (To Trust Myself)' has an almost Caribbean energy to it but the message is to count on yourself even at your darkest moments if you want to truly be your best self.

The uptempo, reggae-inspired 'Don't Get Too Close' finds Mega in fine form with hand-claps and a gospel-esque vocal instantly grabbing your attention before 'Who I Am' slows the pace right down with a piano ballad full of emotional depth that soon evolves in to a confident pop banger. The EP finishes up with 'Moment For You', the kind of song that really ought to be pumping out of radio A-lists with it's stirring melodies, empowering vocals and the kind of dramatic composition that will have fans of Adele, Emeli Sande and Florence + the Machine paying close attention. A stunning EP from an outstanding artist who, if anything is right in the world, will have an epic 2024.
