As statements of intent and plans for manifestation go, calling yourself Mega is a bold move and one that makes people like me sit up and pay attention. Fortunately, 'Don't Get Too Close' puts its musical money where Mega's mouth is with a tune that mixes the soul of Nina Simone with the inventive freshness of Janelle Monae. The jazz inspired rhythms and accompanying piano are infectious but it is Mega's velvety smooth vocal that really ties this one together adding the touch of class that you just don't hear enough of any more. Oh, and there's a fade out ending which is another moment of subtle brilliance.
