Sand Gators - The Wake/Jezebel

Sand Gators are the latest incarnation of the prolific songwriting of Spencer Kilpatrick who has teamed up with his sister and girlfriend to release two new songs of reliably brilliant bluesiness. 'The Wake' bumps and grumps along like a William the Conqueror song but played through a Blues Brothers filter with the guitars chugging, the drums pumping and that Kilpatrick vocal growling from the corner but this time with the edges rounded out by some sweet vocal harmonies. On 'Jezebel' the trio take on a more Tarantino vibe with scratchy guitars shuffling through the desert to find a dry Martini and a checked dance floor - like the story of Jesus spending 40 days and nights in the wilderness if Jesus was played by Johnny Depp and desert was just outside Vegas. There's an album, a retrospective if you will, of Kilpatrick's various works and guises coming soon which I'm very much looking forward to and you should too.
