BURR ISLAND - SINGLE REVIEW

Burr Island - Distant Stars

Release Date: Out Now

For the uninitiated, there is an island off the South Devon coast called Burgh Island which has big Agatha Christie connections, a sweet Art Deco hotel and a pub called the Pilchard that does outstanding crab sandwiches. Devon duo Burr Island have decided to appropriate the name of this famous island with a little twist on the spelling but who am I to split hairs when the music is this good? 'Distant Stars' is the debut release from the pair who are already making waves in the music world because their vocal harmonies and lilting, folksy guitar stylings are just gorgeous. Think Simon and Garfunkel jamming in 60s country pub with Mungo Jerry and a few members of the Kinks drinking rum and smoking cigarettes. The hazy, sepiah tone to this track is incredibly alluring so dive in and if you get a little misty eyed then that's alright by me.
