Westcountry collective the Barefoot Bandit have drafted in the superb vocal talents of Charlene Soraia for this cover of the Groove Armada classic 'At the River' and it is perfect for those balmy summer evenings spent at festivals around the UK. The unmistakable mellow opening bars float across the sun scorched sky before Soraia sings "If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air" with all the easy, gentle soul that this song demands and you can just.....let yourself.....drift.....away. But wait, what's this? At just before the halfway point when the trumpet solo woozes in lazily under a pork-pie hat, this song develops a lolloping little skank and, well, you can almost hear the crowd singing along as they sway in unison. Now, who wants a cider....?
