I can't say it is an obvious match up putting a Doja Cat on the new Elvis biopic but then Baz Luhrmann has always had a talent for making original artistic choices. 'Vegas' takes Doja Cat's unique assertively soulful R'n'B style, mixes in elements of Elvis' 'Hound Dog' and gives the whole thing a moderately dark gangster vibe. In the way that Lady Marmalade got a revamp for Moulin Rouge, Elvis has been brought bang up date by Doja Cat and, well, it works. It really works, in a way only something attached to Baz Luhrmann can do.
