I am rapidly fall in love (or is it lust?) with Lazarus Kane and with new single 'Williston, ND' they may have just paid for a night in a seedy motel. Named after a town experiencing an oil boom in the US, this track hangs off a stark yet funky riff with semi-industrial beats underpinning the minimalist melody and punctuating vocals. This is raw and primal stuff with a sense of the essential about it but don't let that fool you in to thinking there is no style to this as the little flourishes and charismatic vocal shrieks attest to. When the band layer up the vocal harmonies it's hard not to revel in the juxtaposition of harsh and luxurious this song presents. Now, who has a dollar for the vibrating bed?
