Bad Pop – Grey Area

Vancouver trio Bad Pop grab you
by the short and curlies on new single ‘Grey Area’ as their stabbing guitar’n’vocals
combo hits your ears with hypnotic rhythmical energy. The first third of this
track sounds like Muse and Young Knives working on some start futuristic
soundtrack but then things explode and bring in influences like Weezer and
Reuben for the chorus. The song evolves with a mechanical inevitability that
feels like it would work wonderfully as music for some space-rocket launch
scene where a bunch of grunge rockers are being sent in to space because we’ve
run out of scientists and jocks. Definitely something different and definitely
a band I want to hear more from.
