Muskrats – Stones at Strangers

Two important things; Firstly,
Bristol outfit Muskrats do not have a ‘the’ in their name and, secondly, they
pack quite the punch. The trio’s new single, ‘Stones at Strangers’, has a
snarling indie-rock attitude that puts me in mind of early Manics and you can
just imagine hearing it chugging out from the corner of a dark club somewhere
beyond a sea of bobbing heads. There is a dark energy to this one with elements
of grunge and shoegaze creeping in at certain moments but when that lone and
lonely acoustic strum draws you in then it’s hard to resist that energy and
that darkness. Epic, ranging and wall-of-sound intense stuff so it’s a big
thumbs up from me.
