I cannot stress enough how much
talent there is oozing out of Canada these days (and a number of the preceding
days) of whom Kayla Diamond is the latest to reach these shores. ‘Always Been
You’ is the latest single from the Toronto based artist and it drifts in gently
on a saccharine breeze with tones of Carly Rae Jepson and Avril Lavigne. “I only
wanna be touched by you, felt by you, hurt you” she sings melodically over a
plucked guitar line before the pop beats join in along with a pulsating bass
line and it’s hard not to get swept away with the spirit of the whole thing.
