Francesca Louise – Ride the Waters

Having traded in her native North
West for London, singer-songwriter Francesca Louise is carving out a nice niche
for herself in folk world. The opening bars of ‘Ride the Waters’ are some of
the most positive and uplifting I’ve heard in the last few months which is a
particularly welcome sound at the moment. The warm strum of the acoustic guitar
and driving beat lift the spirits and make you take a deep, cleansing breath as
you prepare to start all over again. Vibe wise, this is somewhere between Laura
Marling, Sound of the Sirens and the Indigo Girls but Francesca Louise has a
superbly distinctive voice that soars with newly discovered freedom and puts a
spring in your step. Beautiful.
