A brand new band for your musical
radar now in the shape of Suffolk/Essex outfit Volume 22 (that’s twice as high
as 11 in case you were wondering). The trio’s debut single is ‘Trip Out’ and it’s
a bombastic slice of indie with Britpop roots and a sense of swagger about it.
The bassline growls and nudges, the drums are satisfyingly loose and the
guitars shudder with the style of a band well beyond their debut single. It’s
no surprise to read that Bonehead is a fan as this has all the energy of a ‘Definitely
Maybe’ era Oasis track but with some added flashes of style that are more akin
to the Stereophonics, ManBreak or the Killers. Not quite the finished article
but certainly a band that show a huge amount of promise and energy.
