REFLEKTER – SINGLE REVIEW

Reflekter – 75 Trips
Reflekter - 75 Trips

Release Date: Out Now

And then, out of nowhere, like a bullet comes Nottingham band Reflekter with a hot contender for single of the year! Who saw that coming? Not me. Anyway, the single in question is ’75 Trips’ and it is an absolute indie-rock anthem in the making so listen up. A dirty, growling bass line gets things going and any fans of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Black Keys or Royal Blood will be salivating within seconds. The charismatic vocal of James Gooch (just a hint of Jake Bugg) joins in with Kasabian levels of confidence and swagger as the band hold themselves back just long for the chorus as Gooch sings “when all is said done there’s only so far you can run, you’ve only got 75, 75 trips around the sun”. The slightly depressing thing is that for a band of such tender years they have a fine grasp on mortality and the art of writing finely crafted indie-rock bangers without an ounce of fat on them. Two and a half minutes of uplifting, dance inducing, rock’n’roll fun which demands a second play as soon as you’ve finished it (and a third, and a fourth). Cracking stuff.
