The steady flow of Deux Furieuses
party political revolutionary broadcasts continues with latest release ‘Civilians’.
There is an almost military feel to the track with the drums and guitars
switching between a march and rapid-fire machine guns taking inspiration from
Tom Morello and PJ Harvey in equal measure. Lyrically, this track takes on the
injustice of placing innocent people on the front line of eco-political and
religious conflicts with stark lines like “In comes the tide, meat and bones,
up to our necks in other remains”. Deux Furieuses, if you hadn’t got by now,
are angry but not ‘parking ticket’ angry, no, Ros and Vas are ‘the world is
fucked up and drowning in injustice angry’ and as much as I hate that it sure
does make for essential listening.
