After recently featuring on the new X Ambassadors album, San Franciscan artist K.Flay is about to release a long player of her own but before that arrives this July, we get treated to a little teaser in the shape of new single ‘Not In California’. Using the vehicle of dirty, grungy alt-pop, K.Flay takes on the apathy of the American people (and everyone else, for that matter) when it comes to the world burning around us while we update our Instagram profiles and recycling our straws. The clash of K.Flay’s impish vocal with the fuzzed up guitars and punchy synth melodies is intoxicating and you can imagine a sea of arms swaying to this at festivals as a track pitched somewhere between Lily Allen and Billie Eilish rings out across the night sky.
