THE VELVET HANDS – SINGLE REVIEW

The Velvet Hands – Don’t Be Nice To Me
The Velvet Hands - Don't Be Nice To Me

Release Date: 13th June 2019

For any young indie band out there right now, facing up to a summer playing at the Isle of Wight festival as well as supporting Paul Weller and Liam Gallagher at separate events has got to be both an exciting and terrifying prospect. I suspect, however, that likely Cornish lads the Velvet Hands will be relishing the opportunity to rub shoulders with the big boys and new single ‘Don’t Be Nice To Me’ tells you everything you need to know about the chops that they’ve got. At under two minutes, this is a rollercoaster ride of a song without the safety bar and it kicks hard from the get go with garage-punk energy and a gang mentality. The spirit of the Libertines, the Jam and Young Knives is alive and well in the rattling guitars, shouted chorus and angular rhythms which make this prime for the theme tune of a millennial reboot of the Young Ones….God, can you imagine?
