In case you hadn’t heard, the
Boss is back with a new album out this month but before we get to the main
course, we have the amuse bouche of new single, ‘Tucson Train’. This track
finds Springsteen in sombre, almost melancholy mood with some rich strings and
a sense of lusciousness but, essentially, this is still just a pure slice of unadulterated
Americana. Elements of country, some hints of Broadway, a little blues and
Springsteen’s classic clenched teeth vocal style all blend together to make a
warm, hearty and utterly satisfying gumbo that is pure, unadulterated Bruce
Springsteen.
