So, Dom Keen from Death In Vegas
is back and he’s got a new band – who knew? Well, you do now. Holy Magick is
Keen’s new vehicle alongside Siobhan Lynch and the pair make beautiful, tripped
out and wired in music together. ‘Even Though’ is the duo’s latest single and
draws on previous experiments but also weaves in the likes of Mazzy Star,
Goldfrapp, Dark Star, Gary Numan and the more trippy elements of the Chemical
Brothers. The rippling processed melodies and uplifting synth chords make for
the kind of experience you might expect from a virtual reality concert on acid
but there’s something so authentically psych about the whole thing that the
back drop would still undoubtedly be Haight Ashbury.
