THE LAFONTAINES – SINGLE REVIEW

The LaFontaines – All In
The La Fontaines - All In

Release Date: Out Now

Scottish outfit the LaFontaines stopped me in my tracks with this one and I don’t mind who knows it. I was expecting punchy indie with a perky chorus but ‘All In’ is far more brutal, direct and hard hitting than that. There’s an underlying rumble that feels like you’re standing behind a jet engine preparing for take off and the kind of beat that punches you repeatedly in the rib cage which on their own would put these guys in the Royal Blood meets Prophets of Rage category. Then there’s the twin barrels of the calm anger in the rapped verse followed by the smoother melody of the chorus vocal making this stand out against the rest of the crowd. This is rock, it’s rap, it’s indie and there’s an element of dance in there as well making this the kind of track that you can used to get pumped up before the big match/fight/interview. The kind of track gives you hope that British music is still alive and kicking outside of the talent shows and major label factories.
