EMILY BREEZE – SINGLE REVIEW

Emily Breeze – Ego Death
Emily Breeze - Ego Death

Release Date: Out Now

The press info that comes with this new single from Bristol based artist Emily Breeze describes her as the 21st Century Patti Smith and you’ve got to be intrigued by that, right? With a title like ‘Ego Death’, this was always going to be a powerful piece of music, but I personally wouldn’t have drawn the Patti Smith reference. Nevertheless, there is a moody energy that reeks of the Long Blondes and Jarvis Cocker mixed with a less angry Kate Tempest set to 80s Sheffield inspired New Romantic pop melodies. An opening line like “Everyday I wak up praying that my place of work will have been burnt down or been blown up” tells you everything you need to know about this slice of mundanity brought the brink of insanity by the crushing weight of day to day existence.

Live Dates:

4th April – The Tuppenny, Swindon
12th May – The Lexington, London w/the Nuns
25th May – Pysch & Noise Fest, Cardiff
