Release Date: Out Now
London outfit Sun Skin Air quietly announced themselves on to the scene last year but there’s nothing quiet about the quartet’s new single. ‘Sun Skin Air’ is a nearly five minute romp which slots neatly between Dutch Uncles and the Maccabees with its combination of an angular rhythm section and sweeping melodies backing up the charismatic vocals. But that’s not the end of it, oh no. There are flavours of Simple Minds in their full pomp, the experimental arrangements of the Beatles at their most relaxed and the English charm of Young Knives is mixed in for good measure too. If these guys aren’t all over BBC 6Music by the summer then I may just have to set up my own radio station – the people need this in their lives!
