I have already asserted that 2019
might just be a big year for Nina Nesbitt, little did I know she had already created
this icy pop smasher with an awe-inspiring video. ‘Is It Really Me You’re
Missing?’ tackles a specific emotion head on and it’s the moment when you
realise that you’re not as special to someone as you had thought. “Is it really
me you’re missing or am I the only one who’ll listen?” Nesbitt with simple
piano accompaniment and you can hear the torment in her voice – torn between
the relationship she thought was providing love and the reality of being an
emotional crutch for someone else’s failings. The deal is sealed with a
stunning video which finds our heroine singing in a snowy landscape atop a jet
black horse before a transformation that I won’t ruin for you but is dripping
in metaphors. I’m sticking with it, 2019 is Nina Nesbitt’s year for the taking.
