BLACK FUTURES – SINGLE REVIEW

Black Futures feat. Bobby Gillespie – Me.TV
Black Futures - Me.TV

Release Date: Out Now

Anyone who didn’t pay attention when LWM named Black Futures the band of the year for 2018 will be ruing that decision right about now. Why, you ask? Well, the awesome duo are back with new single ‘Me.TV’ and they’ve brought the legendary Bobby Gillespie along for the ride. And it’s a hell of a ride as the engines fire in to life with a dirty bass line, pounding drums and evangelistic vocals repeating the words “turn down your Me.TV” with something between passion and venom. For the Gillespie guest slot, we are treated to some Trainspotting meets ‘Sunscreen’ preaching in the most deadpan Scottish accent to great and brutal impact;

“You say you want to be yourself, but you don’t really know who you are. You say there’s no such thing as society but without other people you’d be nothing. You’re still hung up on that diseased way of thinking – hyper capital zombification, a blunt imagination, a soul funk of deep proportions, you were born in to eat and it’s all you’ve ever known. Everybody against everybody else, that’s your mentality. Everybody against everybody else, that’s your mentality”

Black Futures have the chops to stand up on a festival bill alongside the likes of Primal Scream, Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy and Slaves such is their power, honesty and cutting edge so get onboard for the love of God. I won’t tell you again.
