Confusingly, Boston band Allison
& Moon are a trio rather than a duo – the set up is Allison on guitar and vocals
with Courtney and Mike making up the rhythm section and the ‘Moon’ section. We
good? We good. The three-piece’s new single, ‘Puppy Love’, is a brilliantly
visceral slice of pop-punk that blends the power and chord progressions of the
Ataris with the melodic nous of Belly. The guitars of Allison are huge while
that rhythm section is as tight a pairing as you’ll come across all year so all
in all this is the complete package and has absolutely nothing to do with the Donny
Osmond song of the same name. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
