Melbourne punk outfit Press Club
are starting to make waves around the world which is handy because they are
starting to play live outside their native Australia. The band’s first UK tour
is coming up this Spring with an album ahead of it, but new single ‘Suburbia’
is the perfect warning shot. Musically, this rattles along like something from
the heyday of the Ataris with scratchy energy and a sense of pathos but there’s
also a more melodic gloss that you might expect from the Nectars or the Joy
Formidable. ‘Suburbia’ is a heartbreak anthem for when you want to scream your
grief to get it all out in a moment of pure catharsis and we all need those in
our lives, don’t we?
