Californian singer-songwriter Nick Waterhouse is gearing up for an extensive European and American tour in support of his forthcoming new album. While he packs his overnight bag and spare guitar strings, however, we can amuse ourselves with his new single, ‘Song for Winners’. Erupting in a cloud of surf guitars and a rasping vocal, you could be forgiven for thinking you had been transported back to the late 50s. The raw, clattering drums and low slung horns really get the motor running as Waterhouse chews deliberately on a tooth pick and stares, unblinkingly down the drag course ahead of him. So, get down to one of the forthcoming dates, leave your shoes at the side and get those hips moving – it’ll do you good.
