The 90s/00s dance vibes and
ambient nature of Fabrik’s new single have hooked me in immediately and I have
to admit to being a little lost in a reverie before remembering that I was
supposed to be reviewing this. ‘Sunphonika’ has some trip-hop qualities in the
melodies but the flicks of guitar and soulful vocals bring this one to life
with a persistent but not urgent energy. Elements of Faithless, Boards of
Canada, Everything But the Girl and Sonique are all in there and the ‘day in
the life of a British city’ video fits the vibe perfectly as all the potential,
unexplored avenues new ventures bubble from every corner and alleyway.
