JUST LOUD – SINGLE REVIEW

Just Loud – Diamonds and Dope Boys
Just Loud - Diamonds and Dope Boys

Release Date: Out Now

So, Prince has been gone a while now but the void can still be felt just as keenly. Sure, Janelle Monae has done her thing but it wasn’t until I heard the first 90 seconds of this track from Just Loud that I felt the purple prince’s presence again. ‘Diamonds and Dope Boys’ is based around a simple guitar riff and sparsely sexy bass line that rides on a funky little beat but it’s the voice that seals the deal. Just Loud’s vocal has that near-falsetto soul thing going on and it’s full of pathos, heart and class – it’s just damn fine and there’s no two ways about it.
