VALLEY MAKER – SINGLE REVIEW

Valley Maker – A Couple Days
Valley Maker - A Couple Days

Release Date: Out Now

In the last twelve months, I have fallen in love with the music of Noah Gundersen and it touched me in a raw and highly emotive place. This new single from Austin Crane (AKA Valley Maker) is instantly touching me in the same place and it’s a wondrous thing. The rich, rolling guitar notes with vast tones speak of never ending horizons at twilight interrupted only by the unerring regularity of the telegraph poles crossing the landscape. Crane’s voice is unique, that’s for sure, but it is also rich, smooth and luxuriant which makes the words he sings both comforting and arresting in equal measure. There’s a simple piano line that edges in to this song with a honkey-tonk timbre and it gives the song such a wonderful sense of space and time, so redolent of the wide plains of the US that it makes me want to hitch up a wagon and hit the road. It’s a long drive from Cornwall though so I’ll probably just stay here and play this one more time.
