JESSE & THE DANDELIONS – SINGLE REVIEW

Jesse & the Dandelions – Give Up the Gold
Jesse & the Dandelions - Give Up the Gold

Release Date: Out Now

More wonderful music from the ever-reliable Canadian scene with the dreamy new single from Jesse & the Dandelions. ‘Give Up the Gold’ is a lo-fi slice of dreamy indie-pop that could have been the theme tune to an 80s shopping channel but, if it was a person, would probably have gone yachting with a Tennis track because Best Coast seemed a bit unpredictable. There’s an unexpectedly sexy bass break that gets fuzzier than it has any right to and frontman Jesse Northey has the kind of voice you want to curl up with on a rainy day and talk about your favourite comfort food from childhood. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable two and a half minutes and that’s more than I can say for my ex-wife. Badum-tush.
