IDLES – SINGLE REVIEW

Idles – Samaritans (Partisan Records)
Idles - Samaritans

Release Date: Out Now

Just when I thought I couldn’t be more impressed with Idles they come along and slap a mighty slab of meat on the table, meat in the shape of new single ‘Samaritans’. Furious, relentless drumming underpins a low-slung bass grumble, abrasive guitars and the barked vocals that are an Idles trademark. “I’m a while boy boy and I cry, I love myself and I want to try, this is why you never see your father cry” goes the chorus as the band tackle the issues of pent up emotion within the façade of 21st century masculinity head on. This is punk, this is rock’n’roll, this is essential, this is what 2018 needs. This. Is. Idles.
