Manchester outfit Ashley Sherlock
have positioned themselves as a Blues-Rock outfit and that’s all well and good
but there’s a lot more to them than just straight up Blues-Rock. New single ‘Run’
is dripping in atmospheric guitars and dive-bar piano but there’s a country Americana
vibe to proceedings as well that puts these guys alongside the likes of the
Treetop Flyers and the much-missed Paris Riots. There’s a rich seam of authenticity
running through this track that smells like leather and suede, arrives in the
bank of a beaten-up van and is possibly played out on some of the Doors old
equipment. I’ve always got time for acts with genuine musical ability and a
love of song writing so Ashley Sherlock are alright by me.
