Julia Scott is the ring-master of
Alice’s Night Circus and from audio to image, there has been huge attention to
detail throughout. The latest track from the Lincoln outfit, ‘Stand Up’, eases
in to view like a warm sunrise with soft vocals riding in to view atop some
gentle keys before the drums kick in and we’re moved in to Florence + The
Machine territory. Musically, this has a feel of an 80s ballad (think Alannah Myles
or Pat Benatar) but given a more contemporary feel and the kind of production
qualities you’d expect from the studio recording of a West End or Broadway
musical. There is positivity, an uplifting vibe and a huge swell of sound that
far outweighs the demure demeanour of Julia Scott. A massive talent well worth
keeping an eye on.
