The reliably outstanding She
Makes War is back with a new single ‘Devastate Me’ and it comes as something of
a warning shot ahead of a UK tour during this autumn. The scratchy grunge
guitars and semi-industrial drums soon give way to a barn-storming chorus full
of 90s vibes and a sense of Britpop meets Seattle being unfrozen in the 21st
century to have lyrics applied with expert precision. There is power and finesse
here in equal measure with melodies that hook in from the word go and if you’re
not thinking Veruca Salt, Breeders, Lush or Echobelly by the end of this then
your reference points are out of whack and you might just want to get that seen
to.
