PURPLE THREAD – SINGLE REVIEW

Purple Thread – Life’s a Drag
Purple Thread - Life's A Drag

Release Date: 13th July 2018

I must admit to being pretty excited when this new track from Leeds combo Purple Thread landed in my inbox. Fronted by the charismatic Liz Mann, Purple Thread blend funk, rock, indie and grunge to make a sound that leaves you confused as to whether you should dance or mosh but either way you’ve got to move. ‘Life’s a Drag’ doesn’t disappoint in the groove levels with a bass line that you want to make babies with but then the rest of the band are keen on bashing out an indie-grunge stomper placed somewhere between Hole, Kenickie, the Nectars and Double Denim. Strangely, this unholy mix works and the band leave you wanting more but only once you’ve had a chance to catch your breath and maybe a bit of a sit down.

Live Dates:

13th July – 360 Club, Leeds w/Hands Off Gretel + Late Night Legacy
