Detroit’s Queen Kwong (aka Carré Callaway) just stopped me in my track with new track ‘Raptures’. The start is all kinds of Veruca Salt at their most introverted but then there is always the threat of eruption and a good old fashioned rock out. Recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, it’s not surprise that the vocal performance is on the husky side of things but don’t think for one minute that this song lacks the power or impact you’d expect to come out of Motor City via a Trent Reznor protégé. Impressive, engaging and entirely beautiful; I’m sold.
