Somewhere in an attic in Wales
there is a horribly decaying picture of Helen Love that is stopping her human
form and spirit from aging. I feel like Love has been around a lot longer than
her sister Courtney who looks a bit ropey now and, more importantly, her music
never loses any of its fizz or zip. New single ‘Double Denim’ is a lo-fi
indie-pop romp (what else would it be?) that blends the attitude and riffs of
the Ramones with the pop and fun of Bis and feeds it through a Beach Boys
mincer to make the kind of song that you have to swallow whole so it doesn’t get
on your teeth. The perfect antidote to the grimness of the real world, then.
