It might be lazy journalism but
describing Bang Bang Romeo as Doncaster’s answer to the Gossip with Kimbra on
production duties is as close as I can get to this superb sound. The
wonderfully named trio are back with new single ‘Shame On You’ and it’s a soul
infused rock’n’disco romp with the vocals of Anastasia Walker up front channelling
Beth Ditto, early Adele and Elle King. The band chug and groove like Black
Rebel Motorcycle Club and Primal Scream having a jam-off and it’s just a
glorious experience that will have festival crowds in raptures this summer. I
can hear this being used in a sexy, edgy perfume advert before too long as well
which will just strengthen the hold this earworm has over us all.
