TAMI NEILSON – SINGLE REVIEW

Tami Neilson – Manitoba Sunrise at Motel 6

Tami Neilson - Manitoba Sunrise at Motel 6
Release Date: Out Now

There is a real and genuine sadness in the country tones of the latest single from Canadian artist Tami Neilson and, for once, the press blurb actually helps to explain the route of this emotion. The deep sorrow and raw emotion behind the vocals and deep, twanged guitar notes are fuelled by the loneliness of an arduous tour schedule during a Canadian winter and waking up in another faceless Motel. What is remarkable about this song, however, is that in the tone of Neilson soft, forlorn vocal you can absolutely hear a familiar sadness in the melodies and then it hits you; “I heard the news of Glen Campbell’s death. I was so saddened and felt like I’d somehow lost part of my childhood” explains Neilson as part of the press pack. The sense of loss and accepting that loss is so keenly felt throughout this tune and it is beautiful because of it – not one to listen to if you’re missing a special someone though.
