There is a near legendary status that has been achieved by Del the Funky Homosapien that makes it hard to approach this music with an honest appraisal, but I’ll do my best. For science. And music. New single ‘Help’ features the additional talents of Amp Live and Adult Karate as we are taken on a journey which starts with a Piaf-esque chanteuse followed by a steady Hip-Hop beat and then come Del’s funky rhymes. The opera style vocal harmony weaves through the background and before long the Gorillaz vibe has you hooked while the socially aware (or socially angry, to be more precise) lyrics are spot on. The blend of beats, rhymes, soothing vocals and apocalyptic melodies is delicious so keep an eye out for an album full of this stuff coming soon.
