NINA NESBITT – SINGLE REVIEW

Nina Nesbitt – Somebody Special (Cooking Vinyl)

Nina Nesbitt - Somebody Special

Release Date: Out Now

On first listen, I assumed this was a tune by an LA pop star with big backing and a heavy production budget. Then I listened again but this time watched the video and read the PR blurb which told me that this was Nina Nesbitt, a Scottish artist who spends a fair amount of time riding around on buses if this video is anything to go by. New single ‘Somebody Special’ has a an Ed Sheeran vibe about the guitar melodies and Nesbitt’s near-rapped verses and pop-groove choruses which speak of being stuck in a relationship lacking in spark. There’s a sophistication to this that is more advanced than Nesbitt’s tender years but when you’ve been hurt it ages your soul and that comes across in this track with great effect.
