JACOB RIDDALL – SINGLE REVIEW

Jacob Riddall – Ready
Jacob Riddall - Ready

Release Date: 19th January 2018

Solo male singer-songwriters have been in strong form early in 2018 but this latest offering by Westcountry troubadour Jacob Riddall is already pulling ahead of the pack. Forthcoming single ‘Ready’ starts off with a fairly run of the mill of acoustic licks but then Riddall’s voice slides in softly all calm tones and confessional whispers. This is the sound of a man with nothing left to give but honesty and his heart, the way you feel at 3 in the morning when you’re having those end of relationship talks through red eyes and wine breath. Just after the two-minute mark comes a fractured and fragmented Banjo melody and woozy electro drone that lift this to Noah Gundersen meets Luke Sital-Singh levels of inspiration. By the time this track winds up, you’re left feeling humbled, drained and maybe a little cleansed too. All in all, a pretty strong start to the year.
