INTO THE ARK – SINGLE REVIEW

Into the Ark – Burning Love (Blackwood Records)
Into the Ark - Burning Love

Release Date: Out Now

If you’re going to take on an Elvis Presley song then you’ve either got to be mad or super confident that you’re going to do the track justice. From the opening acoustic strums of this version of ‘Burning Love’ by South Wales duo Into the Ark, you can tell that they’ve made this their own by stripping it out and slowing things down. Now, normally I’ve got a bit of a pet peeve about folk taking classic songs and slowing them down like a failed audition for the John Lewis Christmas advert but this one kinda works. The harmonies between Dane Lloyd and Taylor Jones are spot on and the lyrics actually fit a more tender treatment powered along by the acoustic notes. These boys have got pipes (they’re from Wales so I didn’t expect anything less) and they’ve done a great job with this but I’m keen to hear their own material without the weight of expectation.
