ME AND THE MOON – SINGLE REVIEW

Me and the Moon – Standing Still (My Little Empire Records)
Me and the Moon - Standing Still

Release Date: Out Now

Every now and again I get quite sad about Ellie Goulding. I mean, she was this great white hope of British indie-pop who was authentic and didn’t use her body to shift units and then she started doing Shampoo adverts and it all went to hell via a predictable route. I raise this now because of trio Me and the Moon and their new single ‘Standing Still’ is perhaps the direction that Goulding could have taken and then I wouldn’t be quite so sad. This is barely two minutes long but the band fit in folk eccentricity, pop energy and a sense of optimism that you normally get during the first few weeks of a new relationship when you still make an effort with your clothes and personal hygiene. The beat pings, the guitars are perky and the vocals of Tamara-Jane make this all sound like Sarah Cracknell guesting on a Dutch Uncles track which, for my money, is pretty gorgeous.
